On The Streets of NashvilleA lot of folks are looking at the developments at Midas Records with great interest. Midas has canned the five-person radio promotion staff and is looking toward a distribution/sales/promotion deal with Big Machine Records. Big Machine honcho Scott Borchetta is really interested in youngster Adam Gregory. The only reason Borchetta didn’t sign him before his Midas deal is because Borchetta didn’t know about Adam. Borchetta loves the youngster and is really excited about his forthcoming single. There has been no word on the recording future of Midas artists Emerson Drive and Whiskey Falls. However, Big Machine is doing well with brands other than their own, like the one they have with Garth Brooks. Midas takes over the pressing of the records and does the sales.

There has been a turnover with country group, Trick Pony. They continue to do well and they are working a lot. They continue to roll along without the original female lead, Heidi Newfield. Heidi is cranking out a career as a solo artist. She is making great strides with her super Curb Records single “Johnny & June”. This record has picked up more than just a cult following. It doesn’t show signs of quitting. Her producer Tony Brown is to be given credit for doing such an adventurous song with Heidi. Tony & Heidi make a wonderful team. Tony Brown has jump-started the careers of many, many artists. Add Heidi Newfield to the list!
