On The Streets of NashvilleI know we can’t police all the music rags that come out. We can only do what we can control. We recently received an e-mail that was offering recording information to songwriters and publishers, the same service we provide here. One of the listings was for material needed by Andy Anderson of Blue Ridge Records. It listed three artists, Andy never heard of two of the three. They also listed an associate producer on the projects, Betty Anderson. Andy says he doesn’t know Betty Anderson. The same thing appeared on another e-mail looking for tunes from producer Carroll Parham of Cowboy Capital Records. He never heard of the two artists and the “associate producer”, Harry Parham. This wrong, lying e-mail came from song@amsterdam, etc.  We pass this FYI along to you after we personally spoke with both producers.

The death of Nashville Brass founder, Danny Davis was a real shocker. I called to wish him a happy birthday on May 29 and invited him to lunch. Little did I dream that Danny would be gone one week later? Danny Davis was good for the music industry. He was a producer at MGM. He brought pop star Connie Frances to Nashville and cut several hits with her. He then joined RCA Nashville, hired by Chet Atkins. Danny produced country legend Don Gibson, Waylon Jennings, etc.  Danny had great success with Nashville Brass. He also joined the star-filled road show that featured pianist Floyd Cramer, Chet Atkins and Boots Randolph. As we write this, I’ll bet there is one great reunion in heaven for all these guys. Perhaps today they’ll be hearing funny lines from George Carlin.
