Have you noticed the change of producers for Heidi Newfield? Blake Chancey is now doing the production chores. This should me an interesting mix. Blake has been the producer for Gretchen Wilson. Blake is the son of legendary producer Ron Chancy. We’re sure he inherited a lot of talent in the genes. We wish them the best. Naturally, we’re awaiting the Dann Huff productions of LeAnn Rimes. There are a lot of artists switching producers and we feel it is good for all involved. There are many times when a producer gets too comfortable with an artist and things all begin sounding the same. We could mention many, many artists who begin cooling off when the producer/artist things become more comfortable. We’re also anxious to see how Paul Worley does with JoDee Messina. These are two very talented people who may have the recipe to bring JoDee back to the top of the charts. How wonderful can a will be? Legendary songwriter Cindy Walker has donated the writer’s share of her royalties to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum! She died in 2006 at the age of 87. Everybody on Music Row knew and loved Cindy Walker. |

As you are aware, teen suicide has been abundant over the past decade and some say it’s getting worse. WSIX Nashville played the “Why” cut on the current Rascal Flatts “Unstoppable” album and had a tremendous listener phone reaction. Promotion executive Ed Mascolo called it to my attention. “Why” is written by Allen Shamblin and Rob Mather. The Flatts’ Gary Le Vox really has a tremendous vocal on the song. His voice is one of the best in the industry.
