On The Streets of NashvilleRobert Plant really has things going his way. Hitching up for the amazing duet album with Alison Krauss was just the beginning. Robert loves Nashville and the music scene here. He was recently awarded as “Commander of the British Empire”. He was given this royal honor from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace in London last week. Last year Robert decided to not join the Led Zepplin reunion tour, choosing instead to concentrate on his collaborations with Alison Krauss.

Another honor we liked hearing about is Asleep at the Wheel will be honored by the Americana Music Association, winning the Lifetime Achievement award. They’ll pick up the prize Sept. 17th at the Ryman Auditorium. Leader Ray Benson is a real road warrior and has gained a lot of respect from road musicians and executives as well. Nobody deserves this award more. The band’s recording career is really long on various labels. We remember them first on Dot Records, Capitol, etc. During this time, we always admired the business people who would agree to record them.

As per usual, the sales just didn’t satisfy the people who count numbers. I would imagine they sell a lot of records on the road. They are a wonderful act on stage with 6 ft. 7-inch Ray leading the band. I hope you’ve seen them live. If not, try to catch them when they’re in your area. You won’t be sorry if you like western swing. They are the best!!
