If you’ve ever had the inclination to visit Middle Tennessee, next month is the time to do it. The weekend of June 11 – 14 I is jam packed with entertainment here in Nashville and at nearby Manchester, TN. The Manchester blast is the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. It is a huge annual event that takes place on a farm that is well over 700 acres and has six stages offering up any kind of music imaginable. It is likened to the annual Festival Internationele at Lafayette, LA that we attended three weeks ago. This Bonnaroo festival has become so large that the state had to make individual entrance/exit ramps on I-24.
Check out www.bonnaroo.com and look at the schedule. It is awesome! During the same days, the CMA Music Festival takes place here on the river in Nashville. This event is really big, as well. It is totally (for the most part) country music. It is unfortunate that these two festivals compete for the same time slot. It would be really neat if they ran on separate days in hopes that visitors could attend both. It would appear to us that the CMA event, since it is smaller, would be more flexible and have a new non-competing date in 2010. It would be a win-win for both events and probably be beneficial financially for both Manchester and Nashville. |
