It’s funny how Urban gets all the press and major awards when the Flatts more than double the sales. Another interesting sales feature is the new Jason Aldean album. The sales on his new album sold 109,000 copies. This is a huge number for an independent label like Broken Bow Records, especially when you consider that BBR doesn’t have nearly the marketing clout that Capitol and/or Lyric Street have. Also consider that Jason Aldean is not a headliner. He is an opening act. This tells us that Aldean is a star. You can’t believe all that you read. The John Rich album on Warner Brothers, with all the network television exposure and all the news stories, has sold merely 59,000. All these figures come directly from SoundScan. Carrie Underwood recently got top female singer and entertainer of the year in Las Vegas at the ACM show. However, newcomer Taylor Swift has more than doubled Carrie’s sales over the past two years. What it all boils down to is that there are only a few acts that sell in really big numbers; Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Sugarland. |

Hats off to Rascal Flatts on the success of their new album, “Unstoppable”. In the first week of release, it hit #1 in the country and pop charts. The same thing happened a few weeks back with Keith Urban. Here’s the difference……. Rascal Flatts sold 351,000 copies in the first week. The Keith Urban album “Defying Gravity” sold 170,000 copies in the first week.
