We had the good fortune to be invited to the tapings. The opening day was a series of songs being sung by writers Melissa Manchester, Felix Cavaliere (Young Rascals) and Josh Kelly. The following days had Mac Davis, Peter Yarrow, Guy Clark, Tony Joe White, Dwight Yoakam, Billy Joe Shaver, Daryl Worley, Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad), Pat Green, etc. For more information, go to the website: www.legendsandlyrics.com. We certainly enjoyed all the writers and certainly do appreciate their contributions to hit music in songs that we all know and love. I was totally impressed with Melissa Manchester’s voice. Never having heard her live, I know now why she books big gigs in large venues with symphony orchestras. Her songs are worthy and her voice can carry the load. Felix Cavaliere was great as he played “Groovin’ On a Sunday Afternoon” and several Young Rascals hits. Ditto Mac Davis. Folks, this is a big deal and a big time production. We are happy to be invited. |

This has been a great week in Nashville for songwriters and fans of songwriters. A local production company has an agreement with National Public Television to do a series of shows of writers-in-the-round. The lineup is awesome and the shows will begin to play on your NPT station in April. We’ll notify you of the dates of showing. In one week (free admission), where can you see more great writers?
